Surge in Cruise Tourists Visiting South Korea, Expected to Exceed 1 Million This Year

The number of cruise tourists visiting South Korea has significantly increased, raising expectations for the tourism market's growth. In 2023, 810,000 tourists arrived via 414 cruise ships, a threefold increase compared to the previous year. This year, 560 cruise ships are expected, bringing about 1.09 million tourists. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries are promoting the cruise industry through initiatives like improved infrastructure and special tourism packages. The collaboration aims to further boost the number of visiting cruise tourists.
