A new original musical, 'A Girls’ High School Librarian: The Glory and Tragedy,' opens Jan 27–Apr 26 at Link Art Center Dream 2 in Seoul. Selected for the 2025 Performing Arts Creation Program (공연예술창작산실) by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, the show follows four girls from a high school library club who search for their missing literature teacher in the early 1990s. After witnessing a stranger’s ankle in the rain, the club leader Myeong-gyeong (who has precognitive dreams) and her friends uncover a banned book (금서) left by the teacher, read it in secret, and set off to Gangneung to find her. The creative team includes writer Han Jae-eun and composer Park Hyun-sook; direction by Lee Gi-ppeum and music supervision by Kim Gil-ryeo. Cast members rotate in key roles, and the story focuses on the girls’ coming-of-age as they face uncertain futures and reclaim youthful courage.
