The Seoul ASSITEJ Winter Festival brings curated, highly praised children’s performances during winter break, offering parents a reliable selection of shows. Organized by ASSITEJ Korea (the national branch of ASSITEJ, an international association for children’s and youth theatre), the festival runs for ten days from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4 across Daehangno venues (Daehangno: Seoul’s theater district). The program opens with a student-produced play that won gold at the National Children’s Theatre Festival, and features seven main productions ranging from shows for preschoolers to works for ages 8 and up, including puppet and shadow plays. Free exhibitions and hands-on activities accompany performances, highlighted by a special picture-book exhibition by illustrator Park Hyun-min, and an art playground where children can relax before and after shows.
