Hanseong Baekje Museum donated two 'ancient ship models' to the National Incheon Maritime Museum and held a handover ceremony. The models are large wooden ship (dangdori-seon) types with different numbers of sails, reconstructed from archaeological research and representing Baekje’s early maritime trade with the Southern Dynasties of China. The donation is part of a public resource circulation project to repurpose exhibits during the museum’s permanent gallery renovation, which aims to reopen in June next year. The Hanseong Baekje Museum expects the models to be continuously used in the Incheon museum’s maritime displays rather than as a one-off exhibit. Museum director Kim Ji-yeon said she hopes the models will begin a “new voyage” in Incheon and that the institution will keep collaborating with others to use public assets sustainably.
