The Netherlands' Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has added two major works by veteran Korean photographer Min Byung-hun (b. 1955) to its collection: Sea SS107 (2010) from his ‘Sea’ series and River RT158 (2012) from his ‘River’ series. Both are gelatin silver prints — black-and-white silver-based photographs — characterized by subdued gray tones capturing a winding great river and a winter beach with drifting snow. Min, who was in residence in Avignon, France in October, provided the works’ information after the museum contacted him. Meanwhile, in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, the Dot Museum (닻미술관) is showing his solo exhibition “Sansugyeong” (landscape and water scenes) through the 28th, featuring selected works from the 1990s to recent pieces that emphasize the textures of mountain, water, and light.
