The Seoul Tourism Organization gathered staff, tourism workers, citizens and foreign visitors for an ESG (environment, social, governance) campaign from November to December at Seoul Tourism Plaza. The participatory program included a six-week environmental challenge—turning off lights and power strips, commuting by public transport or bicycle, using tumblers, reducing food waste, and clearing unnecessary emails—with 137 participants and an estimated reduction of over 170 kg of CO2. Social activities included ongoing blood donation and donation drives, while governance efforts used quizzes to promote fair trade and ethical management. Education events featured seminars on sustainable tourism and ESG in MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions). A hands-on upcycling event had visitors and staff decorate a Christmas tree with ornaments made from bottle caps and leftover fabric, sharing sustainability messages in a festive setting. The foundation said it will continue using Seoul Tourism Plaza as a hub for sustainable tourism and ESG practices.
