Bass-baritone Seongdong Kim returns to Korea for a solo recital at Daegu Concert House Chamber Hall on December 28 at 5 PM. A graduate of Yeungnam University’s vocal department, Kim studied opera and voice at the Rostock University of Music in Germany and has performed major roles in European productions of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Puccini’s La Bohème, and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. The recital, organized by the Yeungnam University Music College vocal alumni association, traces his musical journey with a varied program: songs by Haydn and Schubert, German lieder by Schumann and Wolf, French songs by Debussy, and Russian works by Rachmaninoff. Highlights include Wolf’s settings of Michelangelo’s poems and Debussy’s lyrical pieces, showcasing Kim’s rich timbre and nuanced interpretation across languages and styles. Accompanist Jaemin Oh, trained in Germany as a vocal accompanist, will support the program with sensitive collaboration. All seats are invited (free), suitable for ages 7 and up.
