Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea, is organizing a training program for 10 local café and dessert business owners to develop unique regional desserts using Nonsan strawberries. The program, running until next month and hosted by the Nonsan Agriculture Technology Center, will teach participants to create five different desserts including Dacquoise, Tarts, Panna Cotta (pudding), Financier, and Baram-tteok (a type of Korean rice cake). This initiative aims to boost strawberry consumption and strengthen the local gastronomic tourism offerings. Future plans include developing desserts using other local ingredients like jujube and dried persimmons. Events such as presentations and festivals will showcase the developed desserts. A city official emphasized the importance of creating culinary content that everyone can enjoy while highlighting regional characteristics.
