Retailers in Korea are offering a wide price range of Christmas cakes this year, highlighting a sharp divide between premium and budget options. Luxury hotels unveiled extravagant cakes priced around 300,000–500,000 won: Hotel Shilla’s truffle cake “The Finest Luxury” (limited to three per day) tops the list at about 500,000 won, while other five-star hotels (e.g., Walkerhill, Westin Chosun, InterContinental Parnas, Four Seasons, Lotte) launched artistic cakes in the 300,000–380,000 won range. Even café and franchise collaborations produced high-end seasonal cakes like Starbucks x Chosun Hotel’s limited Noel Tree cake (about 99,000 won), which sold out quickly. At the other end, value-focused options under 20,000 won appeal to budget-conscious shoppers: Shinsegae Food’s Berry Merry and holiday “spoonable” cakes (9,900–19,900 won), SSG.com’s petite meringue cakes (about 11,900 won), SPC/Baskin-Robbins’ petite character cakes (~15,000 won), and convenience store mini cakes at GS25 priced from about 4,900 won to 18,800 won (including a “real milk cake”). The market reflects both demand for luxury, limited-edition holiday desserts and practical, affordable single-portion cakes for small households.
