Gangneung’s Christmas Lights Up with Festivals and Arts Events

Gangneung fills the Christmas season with a range of festivals and arts programs. Gangneung Arts Center will host year-end cultural events on Dec 24–25, including a night concert of Korean traditional orchestral music (gugak) titled “Gangneung, Excitement” on the 24th featuring the Gangwon Provincial Gugak Orchestra and guest artists Jang Sa‑ik, Song So‑hee, and Kang Eun‑il, accompanied by media art. On Dec 25 at noon the center will run an open arts-education festival called “Give Me Christmas,” offering hands-on workshops, concerts, and screenings across the venue. From Dec 24–27, Seobu Market’s second floor will hold the “2025 Sinami Workshop City Festival,” showcasing craft items blended into Christmas themes. The arts center director hopes the programs bring art closer to everyday life for residents. (gugak: traditional Korean music)
