Catholic and Protestant leaders in Korea issued Christmas messages calling for compassion toward the hurting and isolated. Archbishop Jeong Soon-taek of Seoul said approaching those in pain and loneliness is like meeting the baby Jesus, urging small daily acts of kindness to bring light into dark times and asking that Christmas grace fall first on the most remote and hidden places. Kim Jeong-seok, head of the Korea Church Federation (HanKyocheong), emphasized Jesus’ humble coming as a model of servant leadership, offering comfort to the lonely, people with disabilities, multicultural families, and North Koreans. Park Seung-ryeol, general secretary of the National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK), said Christmas renews the church’s mission to stand with the suffering, listen to quiet voices, and seek reconciliation and peace amid division.
