Since opening last year, Daegu Gansong Museum has completed restoration of 30 regional paper-based cultural assets (jilyu munhwajae) from 22 collections, positioning itself as a 'Daegu–Gyeongbuk restoration hub.' Work covered 18 items (26 pieces) from institutions and 4 citizen-owned items. Highlights include restoring an 8-panel folding-screen form of Seodonggyun's ink-bamboo pieces 'Gunjahwamok' from loose sheets, conserving materials related to children’s author Yun Bok-jin by recreating period paper, and repairing a 16th-century scholar Kwon Mun-hae’s will (part of 'Daedong Unbu Gunok'). Citizen-submitted items restored included a colonial-era independence record, a Rotary Club membership certificate, an old university paper 'Gyeongbuk Daehakbo,' and a wedding document. The museum practices visible conservation—operating a public “visible restoration room” where visitors can watch and ask specialists—and plans to expand partnerships with public institutions and citizen participation to preserve and promote regional paper heritage.
