Chungcheong’s year-end theaters offer quiet solace and emotional reflection across four varied performances. Daejeon Arts Center presents the play My Mister (based on the drama), focusing on two wounded people whose cautious interactions crack open suppressed feelings; strong acting promises a lingering emotional impact. The Divellent Trio (a piano trio) holds its 5th chamber concert, blending violin, cello and piano to create flowing musical waves—programming includes works by Borodin, Shostakovich and Brahms. Daejeon Municipal Yeonjeong Gugak Center stages the long-running family gugak musical Banjjogi-jeon (based on a folktale), a 30-year tradition that mixes puppetry (kkokdugaksi-nol-eum) and traditional yard plays (madangnori) to tell a story of overcoming disability through love and courage. Finally, the KBS Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Chung Myung-whun, closes the season with Beethoven’s Choral Symphony, joined by soloists and local choirs for a majestic year-end finale.
