Gangwon Adds Buldak Sauce to Local Foods to Boost K‑Food Tourism

Gangwon Province signed an agreement with Samyang Foods to develop regional products using Buldak (spicy chicken) sauce as part of a K‑Food promotion plan. Samyang will supply sauce and support product planning, manufacturing, and marketing, while the province provides financial aid to participating local companies. Selected firms (to be chosen via a January 2026 contest) will develop products in the first half of the year and unveil prototypes at festivals and expos in the second half. The project also includes a “Buldak Road” tourism package linking local specialties and sites—such as Chuncheon dakgalbi (spicy stir‑fried chicken), the Samyang factory in Wonju, Buldak noodles, Sokcho dakgangjeong (sweet‑crispy chicken), and Pyeongchang resorts—creating food‑tourism experiences. Officials expect the collaboration to create competitive new K‑Food items by blending Buldak sauce with Gangwon’s signature foods (e.g., hwangtae, dried pollack).
