South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture released a survey of fees at 3,950 animal hospitals, expanding the published items from 11 last year to 20 this year (including vaccination, blood tests, imaging, and medication costs). Average initial consultation fee was 10,520 KRW, consultation 10,283 KRW, and hospitalization averaged 65,040 KRW for dogs and 56,417 KRW for cats. CT and MRI were relatively expensive at about 601,333 KRW and 722,789 KRW respectively. Regionally, Chungnam had the highest average hospitalization fee (81,565 KRW) while Gwangju was lowest (56,087 KRW); Daejeon had the highest consultation fee (12,881 KRW) versus Jeonnam the lowest (7,389 KRW), a 1.7-fold difference. Overall regional fee gaps narrowed compared with last year, likely due to mandatory public posting of major fees prompting price competition among clinics. The full regional breakdown is available on the national animal hospital fee disclosure system.
