As subfreezing temperatures hit Korea, sales of winter accessories like beanies and earmuffs have surged. Data from online retailer Musinsa (a Korean fashion platform) show beanie sales grew 237% year-on-year between Nov 1 and Dec 17, led by popular styles such as MLB’s ‘Stripe Miyang Beanie NY’—boosted by ambassador Karina—whose black version saw over 360,000 views and 10,000+ sales. Young-casual brands like Toppi Woman also performed well with hairy-knit, basic-design beanies. Earmuffs, including UGG’s ‘Big Logo Shearling Earmuffs’, topped women’s accessory searches and ranked high in fashion item lists. Analysts attribute strong demand to the “girlcore” trend (a style emphasizing cute, feminine silhouettes) and hairy textures that turn practical cold-weather gear into fashion statements; the items are also popular as affordable year-end gifts. Musinsa expects demand to keep growing as these accessories double as both warmers and style points.
