The musical Beetlejuice returned to Seoul’s LG Arts Center after four years, featuring enhanced Korean-style humor and a higher age rating (from 8 to middle school and up). XIA (Kim Junsu) drew huge cheers with his first comic role, delivering exaggerated physical comedy, playful profanity, and crowd-pleasing gags — including tap dances with eight Beetlejuice clones. Director Matt DiCarlo retained Tim Burton’s visual style while adding fresh stage humor. Audiences also saw large puppets (퍼펫) and a giant king snake onstage. Amid the laughs, emotional lines about life and loss — such as living more fully and life being an unpredictable wave — left a lasting impact. The production runs through March 22 next year at LG Arts Center Seoul.
