22nd Dong-A Art Exhibition Highlights Growing Local Artistic Energy

The 22nd Dong-A Art Exhibition (Dong-A Yesul Daejeon) award ceremony was held on the 20th at the Chuncheon Culture & Arts Center, with painter Park Jeom-jo receiving the top prize. Around 400 works—more than last year—were submitted, showcasing strong creative activity among established regional artists and emerging talents. Major awards also went to Nakju Jang Jae-sung, Dodam Kim Dae-beom, Areum Lee Soon-yeon, Ryu Ga-yeon, Im Ok-ja, and Shin In-suk. Judges praised the deepening expressive power of works reflecting Gangwon’s nature and noted that remembering and recording nature sustains artists over time. Dong-A Art Association president Shin Kwan-mook emphasized there is no single answer in art and called for continued creative, thoughtful practice and community growth within the exhibition’s supportive framework.
