Seongjeong Cultural Foundation marked the 25th Seongjeong Youth Open Concert, continuing a program that started in 1994. The foundation has visited 104 schools in Gyeonggi Province over 24 years, bringing live classical performances to students who rarely have access to such events. Recent concerts included performances at Yeoju Jeil Middle, Suwon Sangchon Middle, and on the 18th at Hwaseong Sejeong Middle (a 2022 school located in Seodongtan). Musicians—violinist Kim So-jung, tenor Joo Seong-jung, baritone Hwang Jung-chul, and brass quintet LaonBrass—played a mix of traditional classical pieces and familiar tunes like “O Sole Mio,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and film themes to engage students. The event involved students and staff in production tasks, and audience members responded enthusiastically, even calling for encores. The 25th series concludes on the 24th at Yongin Baegam Middle & High School. The foundation prepares for its 45th anniversary in 2026 and says it will keep supporting youth arts education.
