Innospace, a South Korean private launch company, will retry the first commercial flight of its HANBIT-Nano rocket on Dec. 23 at 03:45 KST from Alcântara Launch Center in Brazil. A previous attempt on Dec. 20 was halted after intermittent malfunction was found in a vent valve on the second-stage liquid methane tank. The valve controls pressure at the rocket’s upper section; if it fails closed, tank overpressure and rupture are possible. Engineers drained propellant, inspected the vehicle horizontally on the pad, and found no other anomalies. A spare valve is available and replacement and final functional checks are underway. The launch window’s final day currently includes rain in the local forecast, so the liftoff time could shift. Innospace’s CEO emphasized careful checks to ensure a safe and successful first commercial launch.
