Park Jeom-jo Wins Top Prize at 22nd Donga Art Exhibition

The 22nd Donga Art Exhibition, hosted by the Donga Art Association, was held at Chuncheon Culture & Arts Center from April 17–20. Calligrapher Park Jeom-jo (pen name Seolgok) received the grand prize. Several artists — Nakju Jang Jae-seong, Dodam Kim Dae-beom, Areum Lee Soon-yeon, Ryu Ga-yeon, Im Ok-ja, and Shin In-suk — won top honors in other categories. About 400 works were entered this year, showing active creativity from established regional artists and emerging talents. Many pieces explored themes of nature, humanity, and tradition with high craftsmanship. Judge Choi Ga-rim praised the deepening expressiveness of works depicting Gangwon’s natural landscapes, calling artistic efforts to remember and record nature a sustaining energy for artists. Association president Shin Kwan-mook emphasized there is no single answer in art, urging continued creative, thoughtful practice and exchange within the exhibition’s community (동아예술대전).
