'Choseung and Geumeum' Wins Top Prize at 2025 Orchard Road Children's Song Contest

The 2025 Orchard Road (Gwasuwon-gil) Creative Children’s Song Contest finals were held on Dec. 20 at Chuncheon Education & Culture Center, organized by Chuncheon city and the Gangwon Daily with support from Gangwon Happiness Era. Composer Kim Jaehan’s piece “Choseung and Geumeum” (meaning “crescent and dark moon”) performed by the group Dalbitsori won the grand prize and a 1.5 million KRW award. Twelve teams from across Korea—selected from 96 applicants—competed after preliminary rounds. Judges included noted composers and choir directors. Gold, silver and bronze prizes were also awarded to a range of young vocal ensembles with cash prizes, and organizers emphasized the emotional power of children’s songs and Chuncheon’s vibrant cultural scene.
