Japan Remains Top Choice for Korean Travelers — 7.66 Million Visits Jan–Oct 2025

Data from travel platforms Agoda and Skyscanner show Korean travelers favored short-haul trips in 2025, with Japanese cities dominating rankings. Agoda’s accommodation searches placed Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka as the top three overseas destinations, while Skyscanner’s flight searches also featured Fukuoka, Tokyo, and Osaka among the top five. From January to October 2025, 7.66 million Koreans visited Japan, a 6.4% increase year-on-year. Southeast Asian destinations—especially Vietnam (Nha Trang, Da Nang, Phu Quoc), Indonesia (Bali), and Thailand (Bangkok)—also ranked highly; Phu Quoc saw a 63% rise in interest, helped by its 30-day visa-free entry policy for foreign visitors. Overall outbound travel from Korea rose 3.2% through October, with travel interest and flight searches up 15% and 16.9% respectively, suggesting demand for short, affordable nearby trips will continue into 2026.
