Seoul Lights Up DDP 2025: A Nighttime Emotional Canvas

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul has been transformed into a massive immersive light installation for Seoul Light DDP 2025. Its 222-meter irregular media façade, one of the world’s largest, projects character animations (e.g., Line Friends) and flowing patterns across Zaha Hadid’s curved surfaces, turning the building into a luminous, interactive skin. Rather than mere spectacle or advertising, the media art creates an emotional, participatory experience: light moves across bridges and floors, inviting visitors to feel inside the images. Framing the season not as a religious or commercial event but as a citywide emotional reset, the display uses ‘cuteness’ as accessible, global visual language and positions DDP as a year-end platform offering comfort—literally saying, “you worked hard this year.”
