Tenor Seo Young-taek, a member of crossover group Forte-na and JTBC’s Phantom Singer 4 runner-up, will give a Christmas Eve concert on Dec 24 at Yeongsan Art Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, accompanied by the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Cho Eun-hye. Seo trained at Korea National University of Arts and in France (Rennes Conservatory and Paris National Higher Conservatory) and has performed in operas and oratorios such as Carmina Burana, Stabat Mater, and Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love. On Dec 27 at the same venue, pianists Kim Ki-ppeum and Bang Seon-kyung—longtime friends since their arts high school days—will present a duo recital titled “Travelling with Two Pianos,” featuring works by Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Lutosławski, and Gershwin. Kim has served as an accompanist for the Seoul National University agricultural college choir, and Bang is a member of ensembles like Gloria Quartet and Elkammer. The duo won 3rd place in the chamber music division of this year’s 16th Kukmin Ilbo Yeongsan Art Hall Organ Chamber Music Competition.
