Two musicals running in Seoul this season. Kinky Boots follows Charlie and Lola as they grow into true friends, featuring energetic choreography by Jerry Mitchell and music by Cyndi Lauper. The Korean cast rotates among Kim Ho-young, Lee Jae-hwan, Shin Jae-beom (Charlie) and Kang Hong-seok, Baek Hyung-hoon, Seo Kyung-soo (Lola). Performances run at the Charlotte Theater through March 29 next year. Fanletter is an original Korean musical about the artistic passions and loves of writers, centered on novelist Kim Hae-jin, aspiring writer Jeong Se-hoon, and the mysterious genius Hikaru; it draws on the 1930s Korean writers’ group Guinhoe (구인회) during the Japanese colonial period. Casts rotate as well—Enoch, Kim Jong-gu, Kim Kyung-soo, Lee Gyu-hyung (Kim Hae-jin) and Moon Seong-il, Yoon So-ho, Kim Ri-hyun, Won Tae-min (Jeong Se-hoon). Performances are at the Seoul Arts Center CJ Towol Theater through February 22 next year.
