Yun Jeong, daughter of the renowned composer Isang Yun, debuts as a painter at the age of 75 with her first solo exhibition in Seoul showcasing 41 oil paintings. Having lived in Germany and the US, she previously assisted her mother in preserving her father's legacy. Settling in Tongyeong, South Korea, 14 years ago, Yun found inspiration in the sea and her father's music, which she describes as deeply profound and a source of creative inspiration. Her artworks reflect a blend of Eastern philosophy and Western modern music, creating an emotional resonance reminiscent of Southern Korean waves. Although not formally trained in art, she studied traditional ink painting under renowned artist Lee Ungno. Yun paints intuitively without sketches, embodying elements of both East and West in her abstract paintings. Her exhibition, considered an homage to her father, will be open until early next month.
