On Dec 19 the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries revised rules for yacht mooring facilities in trade ports to reflect changes in the Port Act. Key changes: decision-making power over mooring fees for locally managed trade ports is transferred to local governments; families with three or more children are added to a 20% discount category for mooring fees; and other provisions were updated to align with higher-level laws. The ministry expects the changes to allow mooring facilities to be managed according to local needs and to improve user convenience. (mooring facility = a place where yachts are berthed)
