Director Kim Tae-hyung says the new production of the musical Bonnie and Clyde, reopening in Seoul after 11 years, aims to show how fame and social platforms (SNS) can create unjust advantages for people who chase hollow dreams. Based on the real 1930s bank-robbing couple, the show presents stylish, romanticized scenes and music by beloved composer Frank Wildhorn—mixing jazz and blues—while deeper scenes emphasize the Great Depression’s economic hardship and the tragic consequences of violent choices. Lead actress Ok Joo-hyun and cast highlighted the score’s soulful, dreamy quality and the company stressed the moral: eras can produce criminals, but individuals still bear responsibility for their choices. The run continues at Hongik University Daehangno Art Center through March 2, 2026.
