Seoul Archdiocese will hold the Christmas festival “2025 Myeongdong, Lighting the Winter” on Dec 24–25 around Myeongdong Cathedral. The free public program includes a Christmas market where priests sell mulled wine (bengsyo) and sausages, 17 booths by young artists offering handcrafted religious items and crafts, and a donation tree where visitors tie wish cards and donate ribbon fees; all proceeds support the Seoul Catholic Social Welfare Council. Carol performances by children’s choirs, mini concerts blending classical, jazz and gugak (traditional Korean music) at Myeongdong 1898 Plaza, and open studio broadcasts and carol busking at the cpbc media zone are scheduled. The 2027 World Youth Day (WYD) will be introduced with free theatrical shows and a WYD youth space offering crafts like keyring and cup-decorating and postcard writing. A rose garden, light installations, a Magi (Three Wise Men) sculpture, media façade projections, photo zones and trick art are also featured; the rose garden and light festival run through Jan 4. Most events are free, with some programs on a first-come basis.
