Christie’s reported global 2025 sales of $6.21 billion (about KRW 9.1 trillion), a 6% increase from the prior year, with particularly strong momentum in the second half when sales rose 26% year‑on‑year. Auction sales reached $4.7 billion (up 8%) and private sales totaled $1.5 billion, accounting for 24% of revenue. The sell‑through rate was 88% and hammer prices averaged 113% of low estimates, both improving from 2024. Top results included Mark Rothko’s No.31 (Yellow Stripe) selling for $62.1M at a November New York sale, a Canaletto Venice view achieving a record for the artist in London (£31.9M), and a Picasso setting an Asia record in Hong Kong at $25.4M. By region, the Americas grew 15% and made up 41% of sales; Asia‑Pacific slipped slightly to $686M (23% of total). Millennials and Gen Z made up 33% of buyers, up 3 percentage points. Christie’s said Middle Eastern buyers, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are spending more and becoming a major buyer base. CEO Bonnie Brennan noted renewed activity both in‑person and online and pledged to maintain market leadership into 2026.
