South Korea launched the ‘2026 Korea Grand Sale’ (running through Feb 22, 2026) to boost inbound tourism and domestic spending during the low season. A record 1,750 companies across airlines, hotels, shopping, food, beauty and services are participating; the event period was extended from 45 to 68 days. Ten airlines, including Korean Air, offer up to 96% off flights to Korea. Hotels are promoting experience-linked stay packages (examples: free ice rink entry and palace combo at Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul; K-beauty gift card with certain Marriott bookings). Major retailers, duty-free shops and convenience stores widen discounts, gifts and membership perks; partner brands like Olive Young, Musinsa Standard and Samjin Fishcake will run special promotions up to 90% off. Foreign payment apps (e.g., UnionPay, WowPass) will provide instant discounts and refunds in key stores.
The campaign highlights five K-content experience themes—K-Gourmet (food), K-Exciting (activities), K-Stylish (beauty & fashion), K-Healing (wellness), and K-Inspired (culture & arts). Programs include hands-on K-food classes (chicken, fishcake, bibimbap), K-pop dance workshops and broadcast studio visits, hanbok (한복) try-ons, K-beauty makeovers, traditional herbal treatments, perfume-making and regional day tours on the ‘K-Train’ with onboard tastings and experiences. A Myeong-dong welcome center, mobile “Play Truck” pop-ups around major cities and a “Play Lounge” in Bukchon will offer info, activities and shopping benefits. The ministry aims to give visitors rich K-culture experiences and support balanced growth of Korea’s tourism market.
