Aeulsori, a disabled musicians’ orchestra formed by the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education, will give its first regular concert “Echo of Hope: The First Story” on the 22nd at Jeonju University JJ Art Hall. Founded in May, the ensemble of eight adult disabled musicians (three violins, one viola, one cello, one clarinet, one flute, and one piano) was created to reframe disabled artistic activity not as welfare but as public work and a profession. All members were appointed as time‑choice fixed‑term public officials, providing stable wages, labor conditions, and job security instead of relying on short‑term contracts or unstable grants. The program includes a full performance of Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Korean art songs such as “First Love” and “Snow,” and collaborations with baritone Park Young‑geun and the Dalbit Nuri (달빛누리) student chorus composed of disabled students. This initiative is seen as a social policy experiment by a public institution to remove structural barriers, recognize disabled artists as professionals, and promote inclusion through shared performances.
