Calligraphy in Korea is gaining steady popularity because it emphasizes free, personal handwriting rather than strict rules. Kim Mi-ran, a calligrapher with 14 years' experience, has won top awards in national contests and collaborated with famous poets (e.g., Na Tae-joo, Jeong Ho-seung) to exhibit her work. She runs a private studio called 'Sonang Calligraphy' in Dongchun-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, where she creates unique letterforms and fonts, trains new calligraphers, and teaches classes across local schools and public institutions. Kim also produces commissioned designs, such as anti-smoking slogans and signage for the Songdo Health Living Support Center.
