The Daegu Symphony Orchestra presents “2025 Year-End Concert: Classical Crossover” on Dec 26 at Daegu Concert House Grand Hall, featuring a diverse program that mixes classical with jazz, operetta and musical elements. In Part I, cellist Lee Kyung-jun performs Friedrich Gulda’s Cello Concerto — notable for replacing string orchestra with a wind ensemble plus electric guitar, double bass and drums for a unique sound. Part II includes Leonard Bernstein’s operetta Overture from Candide and the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Separately, Suseong Artpia hosts a Christmas concert on Dec 25 in its small theater, opening with Gustav Holst’s St. Paul Suite and including Bach-Gounod’s “Ave Maria,” Puccini’s aria “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi ("Gianni Schicchi"), and John Rutter’s “Candlelight Carol.” (Suseong Artpia: a local cultural venue)
