Seoul's municipal government announced that Bang In-gyun’s sculpture “Eolsu!” has won the Grand Prize at the 2nd Seoul Sculpture Awards after expert evaluations and public voting. The work reinterprets the butterfly figure (nabi sang) from sangmo-nori (a traditional Korean hat-dance) and was praised for its material suitability for outdoor display, form, stability, and public appeal. Painted in obangsaek (the five traditional Korean colors) with flowing white feathers, it depicts dancers moving like butterflies to rhythm, visually expressing values of community, harmony, and unity found in nongak (Korean rural band music). The winning piece will be exhibited for three years at Noeul Park. Seoul’s cultural chief said the award aims to bring hopeful energy to citizens and pledged continued support for experimental sculpture and wider public access to art.
