Paju City held a completion ceremony for its Second Agricultural Processing Center on the 12th, creating a core hub to increase the value of local farm products. The facility enables local farmers to develop and produce a variety of processed goods such as rice cake (tteok), roasted tea (deug-eum cha), and pickled side dishes. Given the strict hygiene standards for tteok, the city plans to pursue HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification next year. Designed as a one-stop processing platform, the center supports small-scale food startups from prototyping to OEM (original equipment manufacturer) production, with processing equipment and packaging lines to raise product value and expand market access. Paju officials said the center will strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture, with the city supporting processing and sales so farmers can focus on production. The center will link with local outlets like local food direct stores and begin full operations in March, aiming to increase farmers’ incomes and revitalize regional agriculture.
