The Korea Forest Service marked the 20th anniversary of the Baekdudaegan Protection Act by selecting 20 outstanding sites along the Baekdudaegan mountain range and publishing a booklet. The chosen locations highlight ecological, scenic, historical and cultural value and include well-known peaks and passes such as Daegwallyeong old road, Taebaeksan Cheonje-dan (천제단: traditional mountain altar), Jirisan Cheonwangbong, Seoraksan Daecheongbong, Odaesan Woljeongsa fir forest path, and others. The selection was based on research into the Baekdudaegan’s cultural resources, public recognition, humanities value assessments, and surveys. The booklet contains photos, origin stories, and visitor information and is available on the Forest Service website. The agency hopes the publication will raise awareness of the Baekdudaegan as a vital ecological and historical asset.
