South Korea’s K-Drone delivery program entered its second year with about 20,000 km of flights across 166 locations nationwide. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport reported participation from 23 local governments, expanding delivery hubs to 58 sites and partnering with 230 stores to complete 5,236 flights to 44 islands (including Marado) and 122 parks — a 75% increase in flights and 81% increase in distance from last year. Common drone-delivered items included beverages (coffee, cola, bottled water), fishing bait, instant noodles, and burgers. Several localities also used drones for public safety services: mudflat surveillance in Incheon rescued six people, collection and transport of expired medicines in Boryeong, and 838 operations for wildfire and marine monitoring and patrols in places like Gimcheon, Ulju, Seosan, Yeosu, and Tongyeong. The ministry emphasized improving convenience for residents in logistics-vulnerable areas and strengthening safety through systematic management.
