'Seoulful Winter' Media Art Featuring Hae-chi Lights Up DDP Exterior

Seoul will showcase a media art installation titled 'Seoulful Winter' on the 222m exterior facade of Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) from Dec 18–31. The display reinterprets the city mascot Hae-chi and other popular characters—Soul Friends, LINE Friends, and Yaya & Friends—into high-visibility pattern art tailored to DDP’s curved surface, making it easily viewable in the evenings. City officials say the event at DDP, a favorite year-end spot for young people and foreign visitors, could help elevate Hae-chi as a global intellectual property (IP).
