Artist Haegue Yang has opened her largest Venetian blind installation to date, “Liquid Votive — Tree Shade Triad,” at the newly inaugurated Taichung Green Museumbrary in Taichung, Taiwan. The site combines the Taichung Art Museum and Taichung Public Library under one transparent, park-like building. Yang’s work rises through the 27-meter central lobby and along spiral ramps, using low-saturation blinds in greens, reds and browns that evoke natural tones. At night, vertical LED and laser lighting transform the piece, which references the cultural symbolism of sacred trees — including Korea’s dangsan trees (village guardian trees) — to suggest a hovering, protective presence. The commission is part of the TcAM Art Commission program and marks one of the major artworks chosen to celebrate the new institution’s opening.
