Rihei, a well-known dancer, made her musical debut as Poet in the Korean production of Sisyphus at YES24 Stage in Seoul. At a press call, she said the experience reminded her of exam preparation days and reignited her passion, though everything felt new and awkward. She thanked the director and choreographer for treating her as a performer who loves movement rather than just a dancer. Co-star Jo Hwan-ji helped her connect dance-related ideas to acting, making her feel respected as an actor. The musical blends Albert Camus’s novel The Stranger ("The Stranger") and the Greek Sisyphus myth ("Sisyphus") to explore hope and perseverance in a ruined world through four actors. The show premiered at DIMF and won multiple awards before returning with some new cast members; the director said they strengthened the production’s worldbuilding and aimed to recapture the original work’s core questions about living when death is normal. Performances run through March 8 next year at YES24 Stage.
