'Blue Lion Wanini' Musical Opens Jan 3 — A Tale of Courage and Growing Up

The musical 'Blue Lion Wanini,' based on author Lee Hyun's bestselling children's novel, runs Jan 3–25 at Nowon Arts Center in Seoul. The story, told from animals' perspectives, explores freedom, friendship, life and growth; the book is an elementary school recommended read, has sold over one million copies, and was listed by IBBY as a must-read for children worldwide. The stage adaptation aims to convey messages of courage and self-esteem to kids and healing and growth to adults, using projection mapping and intricate puppet (퍼펫) work to evoke shifting grasslands, lion roars, monkey movements and storm winds. Composer Kim Hye-sung, known for popular Korean musicals like 'Finding Kim Jong-wook' and 'Oh! While You Were Sleeping,' joins the creative team.
