South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is reorganizing to strengthen cultural content and tourism. The ministry will add a Culture-Media Industry Office (overseeing content, media and copyright) and a Tourism Policy Office, expanding from five to six offices. The International Cultural Promotion Office will be abolished as its roles are redistributed: the international cultural policy post moves to the new Culture-Media Industry Office and overseas public diplomacy moves to the Public Communication Office. The National Museum will get a new Planning Director (senior director) to assist with comprehensive planning and legislative affairs, and Korea National University of Arts will create a Student Affairs Office while renaming its academic office. A restoration task force’s mandate for the old Jeonnam provincial government building is extended by one year. (K-Content refers to Korea-origin entertainment and media.)
