National Youth Theatre in Wonju Presents 'La Belle et la Bête' to Local Audiences

Wonju’s newly based National Youth Theatre will stage an adaptation of the original 1740 French tale La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast) in a four-performance run on Jan 9–11 at Chiak Arts Center, free of charge. Unlike the familiar Disney version, the production adapts Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve’s original novel to offer a vivid, dynamic stage experience. After its Wonju premiere the show will tour five more Gangwon cities: Chuncheon, Samcheok, Gangneung, Hoengseong, and Sokcho. Tickets are available via Ticketlink. Wonju city plans ongoing support to help the company settle regionally and provide high-quality performances, and artistic director Park Jeong-hee said the troupe aims to foster young artists and energize the local performing arts scene.
