Marta Argerich, nicknamed the 'tiger of the keys' for her passionate, powerful piano style, is a celebrated Argentine-born pianist who won major competitions including the Busoni (Italy), Geneva (Switzerland), and Chopin competitions. After moving to Austria in 1955, she studied with Friedrich Gulda and became known for her strong touch, driving virtuosity, and distinctive personality on the keyboard. Argerich's repertoire ranges from Romantic composers like Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Tchaikovsky to 20th-century composers such as Ravel, Bartók, and Prokofiev. She will perform in Korea on November 21–22 next year, playing Ravel's Piano Concerto with the KBS Symphony Orchestra conducted by her late second husband, conductor Charles Dutoit.
