Snowfall Draws Thousands to Gangwon Ski Resorts This Weekend

About 10 cm of snow fell across Gangwon Province over the weekend, especially in inland and mountainous areas like Hongcheon, Hwacheon, Jeongseon, and Pyeongchang. Major ski resorts saw large crowds: High1 (at Kangwon Land) in Jeongseon recorded about 6,000 visitors in a day (6,832 the previous day), Mona Yongpyong in Pyeongchang welcomed over 6,000 skiers and snowboarders, and Elysian Gangchon in Chuncheon hosted around 1,600 guests. Local tourism officials said the snowfall drew many winter-sports travelers, and visitors were also enjoying snow sledding (e.g., toboggan) facilities.
