Jung Yoon-min, a renowned Korean costume designer, curated 'Still in Motion,' a National Ballet special photo exhibition at Seoul Arts Center (11–18). The show pairs six photographers with seven ballet repertories—such as The Camellia Lady, The Little Mermaid, and Anna Karenina—to capture dancers' condensed movements as frozen photographic moments. Jung, who has designed costumes for the National Ballet (notably the original 'Heo Nan-seol-hyun—Suwol-gyeonghwa') and prominent classical musicians, also displays stage dresses, including the multicolored skirt inspired by the Chinese poem motif 'lan' (난새) and the yellow dress she made in five days for violinist Kim Bomsori that shone under the Eiffel Tower. Jung emphasizes empathy with artists, studying performers’ music and presence to create garments that support, not overshadow, their art. She hopes the exhibition invites new, approachable ways to experience ballet and expresses interest in future film costume work.
