The Jeju Tourism Association held an informational meeting in central Seoul to report this year’s results and share its 2026 plans. The association said its program offering local currency vouchers called ‘Tamnaneunjeon’ (regional gift certificates) to group tours of 15+ people achieved over 90% satisfaction and will continue in 2026. Jeju saw 10.61 million domestic visitors through November, a 3.1% drop year-on-year largely due to early-year political events, but visitor numbers rebounded strongly after October. To counter earlier declines, the association ran targeted initiatives including voucher support by tour type, incentives for groups arriving by ferry, school trip attraction programs, touring marketing to 12 regional education offices, on-site promotions in six major cities, and the large Jeju International Tourism Marathon festival with about 10,000 participants. Efforts to attract foreign visitors also paid off: inbound arrivals grew 17.2% to 2.09 million, supported by joint sales targeting new direct-flight cities and fresh partnerships with overseas travel groups. For 2026 the association plans expanded on-the-ground road promotions, new Jeju tourism information booths nationwide, and a “Jeju gourmet road” (a themed food trail) to diversify travel options.
