Photo Exhibition Marks 80 Years of Gangwon Ilbo: 'History of Gangwon — Yangyang Yesterday and Today'

A photo exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of Gangwon Ilbo opened at the Yangyang County Cultural Welfare Center on the 11th. The show compiles 80 years of news reports, cultural records, and regional press archives to trace Yangyang’s transformation. Visitors can view images from the 1940s village streets, the 1960s Yangyang Market and Hujin village, the 1970s Naksansa (temple) scenes, and 1980s beachgoers at Naksan Beach, as well as 2000s developments like Yangyang International Airport and the Seoul–Yangyang Expressway. Historical articles and vintage newspaper ads are also displayed, offering a nostalgic journey. Local officials and community leaders attended the opening; a photo commentary followed. The exhibition runs through the 13th.
